My pet’s breed/species: Harlequin Great Dane
The story: I was home alone one night and decided that I would feel safer with a dog. I knew I wanted a big dog that would be intimidating, so I researched large breeds. I fell in love with the look, character and personality of the Great Dane. The funny thing is, Lincoln looks very big and has an intimidating bark, but he is a big baby and scared of everything!
My favorite thing about Lincoln: He is so lovable! We get stopped everywhere we go when he’s with us. Everyone wants to pet him, and I’ve gotten pretty used to all the different questions I get asked … Where’s his saddle? Who’s walking whom, anyway? How much does he eat? Did you say it’s still a puppy? You’re kidding, right?
Tricks/talent: Lincoln is a smart, gentle giant – he can sit, shake, lie down, and “leave it.” He is getting so tall that I have to move over when brushing my teeth because he wants a drink from the sink. Also, he gets so excited when I come home that his wagging tail has put dents in our stainless steel fridge.”
To sum up Lincoln in one word: Goofball
Comment: Lincoln currently weighs around 130 lbs. but thinks he weighs only 13. This gives the term “lap dog” a whole new meaning! We love Great Danes so much, I recently got a female puppy named Lola. Yes, that’s two Great Danes in one house! There is never a dull moment with them.
