With new advancements in science and technology, we know now, more than ever how important our overall well-being is. There is a plethora of blogs, apps, TV shows and services one may use to understand more about becoming fit and healthy, but is your business on the radar? Health is wealth – and this applies everyone and everything involved in your business. Including you!
If you haven’t already, introducing wellness to your business is a way to improve your community, gain new customers, and help them in positive ways. Wellness can be a broad term and we usually use it to describe a healthy body and mind; but it can also apply to the well-being of your business. This month, I want to look at three areas that impact your life and wellness: your health, your team, and your business.
This is huge. If you aren’t taking care of yourself, how can you care for your salon guests, lead your team and enjoy a work-life balance? I get it; you have a million things to do and that means you sacrifice eating lunch or booking a much-needed massage. What I’m suggesting here is that you don’t have to sacrifice. How? Learn to delegate and realize that the world will not end if you don’t hurry, hurry, hurry to get through each day. If you’re sick, take a day off, if you’re in need of a quiet afternoon, take it. When you focus on your health and wellness it makes running a successful business a whole lot easier.
Workplace wellness is also important. When you and your team are feeling healthy and positive, amazing things can happen! A healthy team will be excited, friendly, and show strength when it comes to handling customers and making sales.
Being short-staffed and overworking employees could lead to illness, exhaustion, and a general sense of unhappiness amongst team members. Did you know that unhappy employees tend to call in sick more often? Additionally, those who do not receive the training and coaching they need may become disengaged, leading to poor sales and work ethic. Don’t let this happen! Check in with your team weekly, encourage them to grow, notice their strengths and provide them with what they need to treat your guests like the VIPs they are.
The Global Wellness Institute states that the global wellness industry is a $3.7 trillion market. Trillion! It’s obvious that your salon guests are looking for FITspiration, and you should offer the services that will assist them on their wellness journey. When it comes to choosing spa or wellness services, do your research. Select a variety of results-driven offerings that apply to a large demographic. The beauty industry is huge, and when you pair it with wellness, you can see even more guests coming through your doors each week.
Today’s salon customers are looking for spa services they can’t get just anywhere. They want to feel pampered, like they are achieving their health and wellness goals, and they want to get what they pay for. Your job is to satisfy these needs and make sure they keep coming back. How will you do it? By offering services that can help them lose weight, detoxify, relax, rejuvenate their skin, and get rid of pain. Think of yourself as a wellness experience provider and offer services that will inspire your customers to improve their health for a better overall quality of life.
