LOUISVILLE, KY – Sun Tan City, the nation’s fastest growing chain of privately owned tanning salons, has expanded its presence into 16 states and increased its total number of franchise locations to 119 during the last 12 months. The brand has spent the last year expanding its franchise footprint, with 65 independent locations converting to the Sun Tan City brand. During this time, franchisees also opened 13 new locations and the company opened or acquired five units.
“This past year, we put an emphasis on franchise growth and we are extremely pleased with the execution of this strategy as we continue to expand nationally,” said Rick Kueber, Sun Tan City CEO/Co-Founder. “We believe that we are well-positioned to maintain our leadership position within the industry.”
The company began franchising in 2007 after growing to more than 40 corporate locations from its inception in 1999. Today, there are a total of 210 Sun Tan City salons – 91 company-owned and 119 franchise locations operating in 16 states.
The company recently signed development agreements in North Carolina and Pennsylvania that call for the opening of 29 additional franchise salons. The company also continues to develop company-owned locations within its core Ohio Valley market.
