Sixty salon professionals looking for training and education on New Sunshine’s 2013 product line found that – and so much more – at TSU’s 2013 Annual Symposium.
For the past six years, Tanning Supplies Unlimited has hosted its Annual Symposium to give salon owners and their staff an in-depth look at the products they’ll be offering during the upcoming season. This year’s event, held at TSU’s Indianapolis headquarters, was no exception. “We kicked off with a welcome address from Mike Gilley (TSU Owner), then went into product presentations by Katie Carr and Josh Malloch of New Sunshine,” said Elizabeth Corbit, TSU Personal Salon Consultant. “After lunch, Jim Peek (TSU Parts, Service and Equipment Manager) shared some valuable sunlamp information, and Katie Carr discussed various sales techniques, which our attendees really seemed to enjoy.”
As a new salon owner, Jessica Berkowitz found the event’s offerings directly beneficial to her business – Caribbean Tanz of Canby, IN. “I purchased my salon from its previous owner in July, and I was very excited to have a symposium so close to home that offered so much,” she said. “Katie Carr’s presentations made me and my staff feel so much more knowledgeable about the products we sell and just selling lotion in general, and we were excited to get back to the store and put her tips to work. Literally, within five minutes of returning from this event, I sold $75 worth of products, and my staff member sold an additional $38 within her first hour. We’re definitely coming back next year!”
For Jeff Mills and the rest of the Sol Spa staff, the Expo was a great way to stay involved and get excited about the upcoming season. “We’ve attended many of these events, and it’s helped us build our relationship with Mike Gilley and the rest of the TSU staff,” said Jeff. “They’re more than just our distributor – they’re also our friend and business partner. My managers also loved attending because they enjoy learning about the new lotions and picking up as many sales tips as they can. After this year’s show, they already have our product lineup chosen for the upcoming season and they’re excited to start selling!”
While training and education were the biggest attractions, there were also many exciting prizes given away at TSU’s most recent event. “Everyone who attended received iLidz goggles by 4-Eyez, as well as samples of the new 2013 New Sunshine lotions, a product guide and so much more,” Elizabeth Corbit said. “Many attendees also won full-sized bottles of New Sunshine lotions.”
A house filled with many happy salon pros means the folks at TSU hosted another successful symposium. “We had a good mix of attendees this year,” Elizabeth said. “There were the veteran salon owners and staff who’ve come to many shows, and there were also many new salon owners and owners whom we’ve only recently met. It was good to see so many people getting excited about the upcoming season, and we’re looking forward to another successful Annual Symposium next year!”
