Attending Suntan Supply Expos for several years, Diane Hannig says this year’s event was extremely helpful for Sinfully Good Body & Sol in Stow, OH. “The intimate setting provided a lot of networking opportunities,” she explained. “It seemed like everyone was serious and interested in doing business.” Diane added that she picked up many tips on increasing her custom spray-tan sales, selling more lotions and improving customer service.
The Expo served a dual purpose for Jennifer Blackburn, owner of SunKissed Tanning & Beauty in Fairborn, OH. She explained, “I took two of my staff with me as well as my new licensee and her business partner. The show was a great way for all of them to pick up lotion and sales education.” Jennifer also won a $1,000 gift certificate from UsedBeds.org and a Hempz sample kit valued at $400.
“The attendees were all very engaged. They seemed eager to learn as much as they could.” Marty Gallagher
Held at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Cleveland, the event began with Norvell University’s sunless tanning training. It also featured vendor sales and product presentations and several advanced topics were discussed during breakout sessions. “Attendees had a lot of one-on-one time with the vendor reps,” said Marty Gallagher, Suntan Supply Vice President. “This was great for everyone who’s looking forward to being successful this year.” The Expo featured a working tanning salon with three Ergoline tanning units – a Sun Angel 1400, an Open Sun 1050 and a Prestige 1400 – and custom spray-tans from California Tan and Norvell Skin Solutions.
The Panel Discussion was an Expo highlight. Moderated by Brynn Scarborough (JK-North America), the panel included Scott Eggers (New Sunshine), Marty Gallagher (Co-Owner, Suntan Supply), Lewis Henry (Devoted Creations), Brian Homerosky (Sunsational Tan) and Michael Stepp (Wolff System Technology Corp.). Explained Brynn, “Everyone on the panel offered concrete answers to many issues that Ohio salon owners face, such as state regulations, compliance and the FDA enforcement of the final order released in August 2014.”
With 250 happy attendees, Marty Gallagher says this year’s Midwest Expo was a success. “The attendees were all very engaged,” he explained. “They seemed eager to learn as much as they could.” Team Suntan Supply now turns its attention toward its second annual event – the Midwest Expo held January 16-17, 2015 in St. Cloud, MN – as well as an upcoming Expo scheduled for this summer in Las Vegas. ■
