FT. WAYNE, IN – EYE PRO, Inc., world leader in disposable eye protection for indoor tanning and makers of Ultra Gold WINK-EASE, Lash Room WINK-EASE and WINK-EASE Dark, wants to be sure salons are equipped to help guests understand the dangers of not wearing proper eye protection when tanning. And while doing so, they’re helping save the planet!
For the 2021 season, Eye Pro will introduce its all new, FREE online eye protection training called “Don’t be Slow to Save Your Sight!” The new, 30-minute training session includes a quick 20-question quiz for salon staff to take to help determine who’s smart about eye protection, with questions ranging from what percentage of tanners seeks medical attention after a single session, to potential eye damage and vision loss, to updates on FDA recommendations and eye protection laws for individual states and countries.
An added plus? For every person who takes the new training, Eye Pro will donate $1 to the National Geographic Photo Ark, a 25-year effort to photograph the world’s largest collection of animal studio portraits from around the globe, founded by National Geographic photographer, Joel Sartore.
“We have made a very serious topic really fun!” explains Eye Pro Office Manager, Jackie DeWald. “The goal of the Photo Ark is to get people to learn more and help save animal species from extinction. The WINK-EASE team has worked to help support endangered animals for over two decades, and Eye Pro President, Brenda Fishbaugh, has traveled the world photographing animals in their natural habitats. Her striking animal images in this training make it a fun, and more importantly, a memorable way to learn more about the importance of wearing eye protection.”
“Some salon staff don’t even wear eye protection,” adds Fishbaugh. “A salon team won’t push eyewear use among their guests if they don’t believe in it, or understand that it’s the federal law for EVERY state, as well as every country.” While Fishbaugh understands it’s a battle for salon staff to educate tanners on the importance of eye protection, she urges them to educate themselves so they can then educate tanners. “When a tanner asks, ‘Do I REALLY need to wear eye protection when I tan?’ – that’s the perfect time for staff to answer, ‘Yes, you do!’ and then explain how it prevents potential eye diseases, vision loss, or permanent eye damage.”
The easy-to-take training also includes valuable tanning tips, such as how to combat “raccoon eye” tan lines, or how to clean and care for goggles and prevent eye infections by providing hygienic disposables – all so important in the current tanning environment.
At the end of the training session, salon staff will not only find out how they scored, all attendees will also receive lots of FREE educational goodies and a personalized certificate to display in the salon verifying their status as an “Eye Protection Expert.”
