NORTH OGDEN, UT – A tanning salon recently raised $2,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by hosting an event that brought a community together.
North Ogden Park was the site of perhaps the most unique fundraiser ever to be hosted by a tanning salon. SunTouched Tanning Salon & Spa held a three-on-three basketball tournament while simultaneously offering various spa services – massage, facial waxing and custom spray-tanning – to anyone who showed up. The money raised from tournament registrations and assorted donations was given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah, a non-profit organization that arranges enjoyable experiences for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Ryan Abriel, SunTouched General Manager, was impressed by the community’s support of the salon’s event. “We had 16 teams and nearly 50 players in the tournament,” he said, “and many of them brought their friends and family with them. We served about 150 people in our spa area and the entire park seemed like it was filled with served about 150 people in our spa area and the entire park seemed like it was filled with so many happy people.” The presentation by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which included the testimony of a local child whose “wish” was granted by the organization helped boost donations, Ryan added.
Abriel said the community was very supportive of the event, as were the tanning product distribution companies with whom SunTouched does business. Four Seasons Sales & Service and Suntan Supply donated lotion samples, lip balms and other products that the salon staff put into 300 gift bags that were given out to attendees. “This also turned out to be a great way to introduce our spa services to the community,” Ryan added.
Opened ten years ago by Whitt and Julie Woods, SunTouched Tanning Salon & Spa offers four levels of tanning as well as custom spray-tans. With the addition of Ryan Abriel, the salon has expanded to offer a variety of spa services including body-waxing, eyelash extensions and massage therapy.
